Copenhagen's S-tog commuter trains offer 7 lines and serve 85 stations, primarily in the city center and its suburbs. Additionally, certain train stations extend into neighboring cities, contributing to the region's extensive coverage of the train network.

Opting for the train is among the most convenient choices when traveling to Copenhagen Airport and Kronborg Castle. Key train stops in the city center include Nørreport and Copenhagen Central Station.

Fares

Train tickets in Copenhagen can also be used on the subways and buses throughout the city, and all are under the same fare:

  • 2-zone single ticket: 24 kr (US$ 3.40), valid for 60 minutes.
  • 3-zone single ticket: 36 kr (US$ 5.10), valid for 90 minutes. This is the ticket you need to arrive at Copenhagen airport.
  • Children under 12 ride for free.

Schedule & Frequency

The trains in Copenhagen operate from Monday to Friday, from 5 am to 12:30 am, and from 6 am to 12:30 am on Sundays. Some routes in the downtown area of Copenhagen offer a nighttime service on Fridays and Saturdays. 

The S-train runs every 2 minutes during rush hour and 10 minutes the rest of the day.
